Peaches for you and peaches for me

In Taiwan, one of the things that I miss most is the fresh fruit. It was so abundant, that in most cases it was a 3 minute walk away. This fruit truck happened to be right on my doorstep. The peaches were more delicious than any peach I have ever eaten. It is also worth mentioning that people in Taiwan were very kind (at least most of them - there were a couple times...)

Sleeping Beauty

In Boracay we stayed at a little place called Dave's Straw Hat Inn. It was a nice place, and very affordable. This was the dog that always hung around. Looked like a golden retriever. This was my first time doing an HDR of a dog, and I was quite impressed with the result.

Almost a thousand years ago this would have been the pool where King Suryavarman II would have had his pool parties. Can you try visualizing that? This pool is just outside Angkor Wat, Cambodia. I am guessing it was for his guests. Pretty nice for a guest pool.

An interesting photo I took on the rooftop of my old apartment in Xindian. I just loved the fact that rooftops in Taiwan were tiled. When it rained, they simply looked magnificent. Also, all of the piping as you can see is visible, maybe that's for easier maintenance.

Taipei 101 from Elephant Mountain

In Taipei city there is a mountain called Elepahant Mountain. This is a place where tourists and locals go on hikes, and as a treat for reaching the summit, you get to see the most wonderful view of Taipei 101 and all of Taipei.

Less than two years ago, I was teaching English in Taipei, Taiwan. This was my the rooftop of my apartment. The view from the other side was mostly lucious green rainforest. I could walk to Carrefour for groceries, I took a cab to work every morning, but first I would I get breakfast at the local food stand. Breakfast was usually fresh soy milk and an egg and onion wrap. The apartment was Xindian, just minutes on a subway to the city (see Taipei 101 - that was the city). However, one of the best night markets and technology centers were even closer. I sure do miss Taiwan. Believe it or not, working with the kids is something I miss even more. My students were the best. I hope all of them are growing up really well.

The Sea Monster

This is in Boracay, Philippines. In fact, it is right in front of the Blue Mango Dive Center, which I would like to state is a fantastic PADI Dive Shop, with terrrific staff. We got licensed there. The beach here is by far one of the nicest in the world. Having the hotels all along the strip on the beach is great. And the food is amazing. Everything in Boracay is on the beach, as the island is very small and all the little shops, restaurants and hotels are along the road right next to the water.

I'm Back!

Ok, so it's been a while since I posted a picture. Guilty as charged. Let's see if I can get back in the habit of posting a new picture each day.

This is one that I took of the front main temple in Angkor Wat a couple of years back. It was at 6:00 am that this shot was taken. In fact, when we arrived at the temple, the sun couldn't be seen yet. I ended up taking a series of shots as the sun was coming up, but this one just happens to look perfect in my opinion. This picture was one of my very first HDR's I ever took.
